Open courseware is a web-based electronic publishing initiative that makes available online core teaching materials such as lecture notes, syllabi, bibliographies, literature reviews, curriculum guides, study notes and video and sound materials related to specific courses in any given subject. Open Courseware  is expected to attract an increasing number of visitors and users to the Centro website and its online information resources. This will include faculty, researchers, educators, students and the general public. We expect to impact a range of educational objectives, such as increasing awareness of the field of Puerto Rican studies 

  • HISTORY AND CULTURE OF PUERTO RICANS IN NEW YORK CITY
  • This in-service professional-credit course met fifteen times to explore the history and culture of Puerto Ricans in New York City. This course is designed for high school teachers of History, English, and Spanish and all staff.

  • TEACHING U.S. PUERTO RICAN HISTORY
  • This essay includes a comprehensive overview of the Puerto Rican experience in the United States, incorporating the most recent scholarship on the subject. The principles and issues surrounding Puerto Rican studies as an academic discourse and pedagogical strategies for teaching about U.S. Puerto Rican set the parameters for this historical narrative.
